Alexandria Middle School

Our slogan, “Growing to Greatness”, exemplifies the Alexandria Middle School. Housing grades four through eight, the Middle School’s upper grades are organized according to the teaming model adopted by the National Middle School Association. Fourth graders follow a self-contained program while our fifth graders begin to experience a departmental approach to learning that fosters independence and responsibility. A variety of instructional strategies and a sound understanding of pre-adolescent students allow us to provide the best possible learning environment.

Our daily instruction includes integrated Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science. Physical Education, Health, Technology Engineering & Design, Computers, Spanish and Art are also part of our students’ curriculum. A technology component is also incorporated into various subject curriculums. The Accelerated Mathematics Program prepares students for advanced placement in high school, while students demonstrating exceptional academic ability are challenged with an innovative school-wide enrichment program.

Athletic teams, including Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Field Hockey and Cross Country are offered for student participation. Other extracurricular activities include Computer, Chess, Ski, Yearbook, Student Council / Peer Leadership and Homework Clubs.

An involved and dedicated PTA works in partnership with the Middle School to coordinate programs and provide a means of active participation. The Alexandria Township Education Foundation allows teachers to design, develop and fund innovative instructional programs in their classrooms. An active Board of Education continues to support small class sizes and promote quality academic instruction.
